Provincial Associations and Memberships

The NSMSRC is registered as one of the Provincial / Territorial Aboriginal Sport Bodies with the Aboriginal Sport Circle of Canada.  This recognized membership allows the NSMSRC to be represented at not only a National level, but also an International level with discussions that take place in such platforms as the North American Indigenous Games (planned for July 2002 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) and the World Indigenous Games (tentative and in planning stages).

The NSMSRC is also in negotiation with the Nova Scotia Sports & Recreation Commission to be recognized as a "multi-sport organization" or "MSO"... as we currently provide services, programs and opportunities for more than one sport.   The Nova Scotia Recreation Commission, or SRC for short, is the primary governing body for sports and recreation services for the Province of Nova Scotia.  The NSMSRC has established a relationship with this Provincial body to assist in the development and funding assistance so that our organization can provide the initiatives set forth and outlined both in the mission statement as well as the Grassroots Level Document that was developed to bring opportunities to the community levels.

The best example of this is the promotion of such activities as the Nova Scotia Mi'kmaw Summer Games and other Provincial Sports Championships that our various Nova Scotia Mi'kmaw communities will be hosting as qualifying for such events takes place.

The SRC will be instrumental in making and establishing the linkages to other Provincial organizations that will support the NSMSRC such as Education, Justice, Heritage, Health and Culture.  We hope to establish long term partnerships with these groups for the benefit of our membership.
